Five Nights at Freddy's: The Twisted Ones is the newest, second sequel to the bestselling novel, Five Nights at Freddy's: The Silver Eyes.
It's been a year since the horrific events at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, and Charlie is just trying to move on. Even with the excitement of a new school and a fresh start, she's still haunted by nightmares of a Masked Murder and Four Gruesome Animatronic Puppets. Charlie thinks her ordeal is over. But when a series of bodies are discovered near her school-bearing wounds that are disturbingly familiar-she finds herself drawn back into the world of her father's frightening creations. Something twisted is hunting Charlie, and this time if it finds her, it's not letting her go.
Charlie is attending college with Jessica. On the night of her 18th birthday and onwards, she begins to have nightmares involving her brother Sammy and a door.
Not wanting anyone else to get hurt, Charlie lets herself become captured by the twisted animatronics. She is almost rescued by John, Jessica and Clay in a restaurant that is located beneath her childhood house. Right before it collapses, she is recaptured by Twisted Freddy, and killed by the springlocks.
Jessica is attending the same college with Charlie, who she shares a dorm room with.
After a storm, John is called out to Hurricane to help with the cleanup. She meets Charlie along the way to her college, where they go out on a few dates.
Clay is the police chief of hurricane.
When Clay ordered Freddy's to be demolished, he didn't want to destroy the animatronics, so he took them to his house and hid them in the basement. Once his wife, Betty found out, she left him. Later on, the animatronics helped fight off the twisted animatronics, and lead Clay, John, and Jessica to Charlie.
Dave's body was found in the partly demolished Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, inside a storage unit underneath Pirate's Cove.
It is revealed that Dave is possessing his dead body along with the twisted animatronics. With the new identity, Springtrap, he orchestrated the murders in order to locate Charlie and retrieve something of her's that is not yet known.
She and Charlie had a fight about returning to Hurricane, causing Charlie to move out.
When John takes one last look into Charlie's collapsing house, a person who resembled Aunt Jen is hunched over Charlie in the springlock suit. It is unknown is that was her or if it was, if she survived.
Tracy Horton was one of the victims of the twisted animatronics. Charlie finds her body in a field just off of the road. Tracy has the same facial and body features as Charlie, and looks just like her.
Arty is a friend of Charlie and is in her class. He has a crush on her.
Dr. Treadwell is Charlie and Arty's professor at their college.
- Before the book's release, Barnes & Noble gave out a few early copies.
- Despite Nightmare on the cover, he is not a main perspective in the book, rather the twisted animatronics.
- He is, however, mentioned late into the book.
- The Twisted Ones is the first book to introduce animatronics that never appeared in any of the games, being twisted versions of Freddy, Bonnie, Foxy, and a new wolf animatronic.
- From the four original animatronics, Chica is the only one not to have a twisted counterpart.
